Forceful Freedom from Poverty

Introduction

Many preachers today sell the Gospel as though it were “market goods”. They promise “instant wealth” if you sow seed. But Jesus never charged for miracles (Matt. 10:8). The Gospel is free because He paid for it. This virus makes money the master, not Jesus.

Objectives

By the end of this lesson, the lamb will:

​

(1) Know that the Gospel cannot be sold (2 Cor. 2:17).

 

(2) Ask Jesus “what must I do?” not “what will You give me?” (Acts 22:10)

 

(3) Rest in Christ’s riches even when their pocket is empty (Rev. 2:19).

 

(4) Practise contentment and self-control (1 Tim. 6:6).

 

Presentation

 

1. See The Lie

Teaching: “Give money to get money. Seed becomes harvest.”

​

Truth: “Freely you have received. Freely give.” (Matt 10:8)

 

Jesus healed, fed, delivered... no price tag. Forceful money demands are not from Him.

 

2. Hear Jesus’s First Question

Paul asked (Acts 9:6 KJV): “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”

 

In Luke 3:10 the people asked “What shall we do then?”

 

Followers ask for direction, not dollars. The challenge you face does not make you poor before Jesus.

 

3. Know Your True Riches

In Rev. 2:9, Jesus told the poor church in Smyrna: “I know your … poverty (but you are rich)”.

 

You carry eternal treasure (2 Cor. 4:7). Finance is a challenge, not your identity. God is faithful, your bank account is not.

 

4. Walk in Contentment

Rom. 12:16 says “be content”.

 

1 Tim. 6:6-10 says “godliness with contentment is great gain”.

 

Love of money is the root of evil (1 Tim. 6:10). Jesus takes care of sincere servants (Matt. 6:33). We serve Him, not money.

1. What is “Forceful Freedom from Poverty”?

   • Teaching that forces money from people by promising wealth for “seed.” It sells what Jesus gave us for free (Matt. 10:8; 2 Cor. 2:17).

   • No. “Freely you have received. Freely give.” (Matt. 10:8)

3. What did Paul ask Jesus after he was saved?

4. Can a believer be poor and still rich?

   • Yes. Rev. 2:19. We are rich because we have Christ, not cash.

5. What must every preacher and believer practise?

   • Contentment and self-control (Rom. 12:16; 1 Tim. 6:6). Trust in God’s faithfulness.

• Father, in Jesus’s name, forgive us for selling what You gave us for free.

• Teach us to say: “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”

• If we lack, remind us that we are rich in You. If we have, keep us content.

• Protect every lamb from merchants. Let them hear only Your voice.

• Jesus, we serve You, not money. You are faithful. Amen.
